Background information

Vision

The Helderberg Society for the Aged will provide sustainable care for the older person, enhancing quality of life with dignity and security, within a culture characterised by integrity, commitment, compassion and respect.

Mission

We will achieve our vision by appointing and/or training suitably qualified staff, enhancing our facilities, developing creative ways of self-funding, developing innovative marketing practices, engaging the community towards providing integrated and harmonised care for the older person.

HISTORY

The Society has grown from a small Rotary initiative started in 1958 to caring for approximately 700 residents in frail care, assisted living complexes, 8 blocks of flats and 2 cottage complexes. Frail care facilities, flats and service centres are situated throughout Somerset West and the neighbouring areas of Garden Village and Lwandle.

Our residents come from all walks of life, and we strive to provide a range of services to address the needs of all. To do this is effectively, the Society directly employs 210 people with a further 50 outsourced personnel.
