Festive vibes are in full swing at HSFA’s Assisted Living Unit Silver Oaks Lodge! The incredibly talented Tish Morgan and Shane Mdutyulwa enchanted us with their stunning concert of light classics and opera. 🎤
Our residents were all smiles, enjoying every note—and the day was made even sweeter with delicious cakes and tea! ☕🍰
A big thank you to Tish and Shane for sharing their amazing voices and bringing joy to our community. 💖 #HSFA #LiveWithJoy #FestiveMoments #MusicHeals #silveroakslodge
There were lots of Mandela Day smiles at the HSFA today! The blankets and food received from our community as well as from the Keep Cape Town Warm Campaign were distributed to our units at our HSFA Service Centre at Garden Village as well as to those residents with no financial or family support at our Frail Care and Assisted Living units. Thank you again The Community Chest of the Western Cape and GOOD HOPE FM for choosing the Helderberg Society for the Aged as a beneficiary. #MandelaDay2024
This quote rings true for the children at The Smart Hub in Macassar, who recently enjoyed the wisdom and storytelling from some of our special HSFA residents. These representatives (Ellen, Louise and Adele) from our ever-growing “HSFA Projects Team” brought bags filled with beautifully knitted blankets, jerseys, beanies, and teddies, all lovingly crafted by our residents, to the school. Ellen told an animated version of Little Red Riding Hood which had all the kids hanging on to every word!
Massive thanks to Dr. Bryony May and her volunteers at Out the Box NPO for creating a wonderful educational centre for these children, the Little Smarties, achieving a remarkable transformation in just two years. Our residents from HSFA Projects recently had the pleasure of attending a presentation by Bryony on the various programs being implemented by Out of Box and were instantly inspired to get involved and contribute their skills.
A special thank you goes out to our wonderful residents at HSFA Mountview Frailcare, Joan Moen and Edith Hofmeyr, for their incredible dedication and generosity. Over the past few months, Joan and Edith have been tirelessly knitting beautiful crafts, which they have now graciously donated to Heartlands Baby Sanctuary.
This heartwarming effort bridges the gap between generations, showcasing the kindness and creativity of our elderly community members, and bringing joy to the little ones at Heartlands.

For an unforgettable night, the HSFA’s Vonke Hall was transformed into an elegant fine dining restaurant, where the HSFA hosted our bi-annual fundraising and networking dinner. Esteemed members of our Somerset community gathered to support and raise awareness for the HSFA, our mission, our Section 18A status, and the vital role that bequests and donations from the community play in sustaining our NPO. Among our guests were Standard Bank – South Africa, Village Collective, Dewvest, Fontijn, Dr Sharon Truter Neuropsychology, Imibala Trust, Matthee Prokureurs, Classic Bathrooms, Laminin Paints Western Cape, and Frontline Electrical. It was a wonderful opportunity to connect with new partners and thank those who have been our donor supporters in the past.
