Music makes the world go round.

Music makes the world go round.

Recently our residents from our Assisted Living Units, Silver Oaks Lodge and Robari Lodge were visited by two talented musicians Kai Lehmensiek and Alex Moon who gave a magical piano performance. The concert was enjoyed by all! Thank you Lai and Alex.

Oasis Collaboration builds skills

Oasis Collaboration builds skills

The HSFA is a firm believer in skills and capability development of our own staff and of future carers, in order to offer the best service to our residents and the elderly community. The HSFA and OASIS Training Centre – PTY Ltd have collaborated allowing their training centre students an opportunity to do the practical part of their course at the HSFA. OASIS students were placed at the HSFA to job-shadow our carers, as part of their 6-week practical training, during their 3-month course. These students were allocated shifts, and job-shadowed and learnt practical caring with our HSFA carers. As part of the practical training, they had to learn specific caring tasks, as per their curriculum, in order to graduate. We are proud to laud the hardworking students of the first program with us at their graduation, and now welcome a new set of students in the second!

HSFA Supports Helderberg Hospice at Golf Day

HSFA Supports Helderberg Hospice at Golf Day

Golf Days that support a worth cause is a win-win situation – a good way to support a charity and a great way to end a week! Some of the Exec team and Board of the HSFA played in a four-ball at the recent Helderberg Hospice Golf Day! Thank you Helderberg Hospice for a well-organised event and we were delighted to support with a water and drinks stand for the golfers. Watch this space for the next Golf Day in support of the HSFA (Helderberg Society For the Aged) on 7th Oct 2022.

Greek Olympic Champions at the HSFA

Greek Olympic Champions at the HSFA

What a way to get up and moving – doing our very own Olympic event activities at the HSFA! The residents of both Assisted Living Units Robari and Silver Oaks Lodge, both Frail Care units Mountview and Support Centre as well as the Independent Living Units Vonke and Swannack all participated in the challenges! Medals were awarded in select events like horse-shoe toss, boules, ringboard throw, treasure hunt, bingo, egg in lap race and relay! Well done to all the winners who stood proudly on the podium with their shiny medals! The menu of the day as served by Geratec included Greek Beef Kofta Kebab with Tzatziki, Greek Salad and delicious Galaktoboureko. Thank you to all the HSFA staff who went the extra mile to dress up like Greek Gods and Goddesses and make these events a great success. You are ALL champions in our eyes!
