On Sunday 13th December, some Helderberg vintage and classic car enthusiasts, cruised through the retirement villages of the Helderberg region (including to the HSFA Helderberg Society For the Aged) in cars from the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s, so the residents could have a trip down memory lane. The HSFA residents of Vonke House came onto their balconies to wave them through and the residents of HSFA Swannack Gardens cheered from their gardens!
The classic cars included an Alfa Romeo, Ford, Rolls Royce, Triumph, MG, Aston Martin, Buick, Chrysler, Jaguar, Mercedes Benz, Volkswagen, GSM and a few others.
A very sweet gesture by the ‘Senior Tour Classic Car Run’ team to add cheer to the lives of the residents in retirement villages in the Helderberg and hopefully bring back good memories of days gone by. Thanks to the organisers Lindsay Curran and Tony Bruton. Given the Covid pandemic and the adherence to safety measures, the cars did not stop en-route nor drivers get out of their cars. The HSFA also did a photographic competition for the residents, for the best photo! Winner to be announced soon!
