A service centre is a community based care and support service where older persons are provided with organised programmes and activities which assist them to live independently in their communities.

A service centre is a gateway to the ageing network—connecting older adults to vital community services that can help them stay healthy and independent. Membership is available to persons over the age of 60 in order to qualify for discounted services and various activities hosted at the Helderberg Society for the Aged.

HSFA has two Service Centres:

VONKE SENIOR RENDEZVOUS – SERVICE CENTRE

Services include:

MEALS

Well-balanced and nutritious meals at discounted prices, available to take away or as a sit-down meal at:

  • Vonke Park
  • Silver Oaks Lodge

SOCIAL

A variety of card games, Scrabble, Exercise Classes, Educational Talks, Snooker, Bingo, Lectures, Carpet Bowels, Line Dancing
Musical Concerts, Choirs, Regular Outings, Church services

PROGRAMMES

Stroke Support Group, Art Classes, Embroidery Group, Sewing Project (production of African wear), Beadwork, English Literacy Classes, Educational Talks, Counselling, Life Skills Training

GARDEN VILLAGE SENIORS RENDEZVOUS – SERVICE CENTRE

The service centre for persons older than 60 years, male and female. The service centre services Garden Village, Laurentia Park, Helderzicht and surrounding areas. Currently the persons at the service centre range in age from 68—93 years old. We meet Mondays, Wednesdays and every second Thursday from 09:00—12:30.
