WHAT OUR RESIDENTS AND THEIR FAMILIES SAY

Shout out to Japie, Lance, Casper, the Facilities Team and Housekeepers, I would like to express my gratitude to everyone for their hard work. I appreciated the fact, that they included me in making certain decisions. The work you do is important and so appreciated. The end result of said project, is excellent. I am one happy tenant, and look forward to many happy years in HSFA’s Butler Court and in the garden. Keep up the good work Team. Thank you.

After my hip replacement op, I had to be taught to walk again, at Vergelegen and Spescare and then Rika Rodd invited me to spend a couple of days at the HSFA’s “rehab” department (Respite Unit). It was wonderful to receive quiet, gentle, sincere and generous kindness from Rika Rodd and one or two others at Vonke. Bless you! Rika actually came to see me when I arrived at Vonke. This unexpected, gentle courtesy meant a great deal. After this experience I found I was pleased that there was no “upstairs” and “downstairs” at Camelot!

Mike and I celebrated our Diamond Anniversary yesterday with the day starting with a very special coffee morning in our Den at Bowden Park with our many delightful neighbour’s from within our Village. We have now been here nearly 13 years and not a day’s regret. We have both served our time on our Committee but now keep a low profile and just try to support all that is done for us by BP and HSFA. I was on Head Office Staff for 10 years but that was 20 years ago.  Also long ago from 1979 for 3 years my own dear Dad lived at Vonke House very happily. So the Society has played a huge part in our lives. Thank you HSFA for all you have done for our family over the past 44 years.

Jackie and Mike Blundell – May 2023

I worked for the Society for 27 enjoyable years, now returning as a resident at Lancelot. The best thing I did was to move into my own little flat, just big enough for me. The excitement of moving to Lancelot and starting the last stages of my life was amazing. I felt as though I was leaving home to start life on my own but having the peace of mind if needing help it would be there for me. Making lots of new friends here is wonderful and going to shows at The Playhouse organised for us is great. It is wonderful being under the umbrella of the Society feeling safe.

It was worth the long wait to finally be able to move into our lovely, cosy, carefully thought out home in Bowden Park,  that has everything we could want. The HSFA’s Head Office staff ( particularly Rika Rodd and Michelle Reddy ) were marvellous and so kind during our moving in period and indeed all the staff were/are great and extremely friendly and kind. Being part of this community is lots of fun but help is always available if we need it. Rochelle at Vonke House is an absolute darling too. We truly thank God Almighty that we can live here in this beautiful place.
