The HSFA residents did us proud at the 47th Senior Sports day held recently in Strand. Well done to the team from Lancelot (the gorgeous coyboys) who won first place. We love your enthusiasm and energy! #activeageing #DSD #seniorsportsday #DepartmentOfSocialDevelopment

Our AGM was held on Tuesday 23rd August. Thank you to all attendees and those involved in making it an informative and enjoyable evening. Particular thanks goes to our board members, donors, partners and of course hard working staff for enabling the HSFA to go from strength to strength despite the past couple of years of a troubled economy / pandemic in the country. Should you wish to receive a digital copy of our Annual Report 2022, please contact michelle@hsfa.org.za or call 021 8515130.

The phenomenal women of Independent Living (both staff and residents) kindly donated gifts to those living in our HSFA Frail Care (some on subsidies and/or no family support). Woman’s month ended with a fun tea at Vonke House with some guest speakers!
On Woman’s day earlier in the month both the Assisted Living and Frail Care units enjoyed a delicious lunch prepared by GERATEC to be reminded of just special women are! Thank you all!

Recently our residents from our Assisted Living Units, Silver Oaks Lodge and Robari Lodge were visited by two talented musicians Kai Lehmensiek and Alex Moon who gave a magical piano performance. The concert was enjoyed by all! Thank you Lai and Alex.

Golf Days that support a worth cause is a win-win situation – a good way to support a charity and a great way to end a week! Some of the Exec team and Board of the HSFA played in a four-ball at the recent Helderberg Hospice Golf Day! Thank you Helderberg Hospice for a well-organised event and we were delighted to support with a water and drinks stand for the golfers. Watch this space for the next Golf Day in support of the HSFA (Helderberg Society For the Aged) on 7th Oct 2022.

Another touching moment is seeing the residents of Frail Care opening and reading Christmas cards written and designed by the Beaumont Primary School pupils. The scholars kindly made over 1000 handcrafted Christmas cards for the residents of the HSFA. Once again, they also donated boxes of biscuits. Thanks goes to the children as well as the inspiring headmaster Mr Gordon Reddell and to the lovely Mrs Dez Struwig. See below Hanlie Theron, Frail Care Unit Manager of the HSFA receiving the donations. #kindnesstoelderly #christmas2021
