“Age is just a number, but love is eternal. Happy Valentine’s Day to the young at heart!”
Well Mr Van Eeden is certainly young at heart in his funky (Cupid?) Valentine’s Day outfit at HSFA Robari Lodge’s Valentine’s day lunch yesterday! Bet you attracted the ladies sir!? There was certainly a happy vibe at Robari Lodge (Assisted Living) as the residents enjoyed meals with hidden hearts by with love by Careserv . Thank you to all the HSFA staff who filled our dining rooms with hearts and happiness. #valentinesday2024 #somersetwest #elderlylove
HSFA’s greatest love stories 2024

HSFA’s greatest love stories 2024

“The greatest love stories are not those of youth, but those written with the ink of experience and adorned with the beauty of aged wisdom.”
Our cherished residents at HSFA’s Vonke House and Swannack Gardens came together on the 14th Feb to celebrate Valentine’s Day in style! Everyone delighted in the French-themed festivities, dressing up elegantly for the occasion. A heartfelt thank you goes out to Geratec for the delightful surprises of hidden hearts and the delectable culinary delights that made the day even more special! Congrats to the Kilkenny’s for being awarded the best dressed – enjoy your romantic hamper! #valentinesday2024 #valentinesdayelderly #somersetwest
Wild Dogs and Honey Badgers?

Wild Dogs and Honey Badgers?

A while back our Independent Living residents were treated to a surprise visit from the Rhino Ladies Rugby Team all the way from the USA! Vonke House buzzed with excitement as the team shared jerseys, exchanged gifts, and cherished precious moments with our residents. What’s truly heartening is that these connections didn’t end there—WhatsApp became a bridge, allowing ongoing communication and nurturing of these newfound friendships.
The immense joy and positivity from this encounter encouraged not just a return visit but an expansion! This time, it wasn’t just the Rhino Ladies; the Cape Town Wild Dogs and the Honey Badgers joined in, spreading their warmth to the Support Centre, Mountview, Silver Oaks Lodge, Robari Lodge, and a return to Vonke House! Laughter, songs, and a rugby-themed twist on “pass-the-parcel” filled the air, making each moment unforgettable.
A special nod of gratitude goes to Pepsi Combrinck, a cherished HSFA resident and the mother of Rhinos Rugby Academy director, Ryno Combrinck. Her inspiration sparked these wonderful visits, Thank you, Pepsi https://academy.rhinosrugby.com/ https://rugbytens.com/cape-town-wild-dogs/
