The dancing and singing was infectious at the HSFA on Bok Fridays! Our Springbok jerseys are on, our tables are decked in green and gold, our flags were up, our voices were loud, our food colours are coordinated and our residents were partying! Go Bokke. The staff and residents of the HSFA supports you – always. #RugbyWorldCup2023 #GoBokke #bokfridays

The talented band ‘Brass Keys’ brought joy and entertainment to the residents of Silver Oaks Lodge, one of HSFA’s Assisted Living units. With Nick Ames on trumpet and vocals, Dave Betts on keyboard, and Kerry Betts as a second vocalist, the band’s talents touched everyone in attendance.
It’s especially touching that Nick is the son of one of the residents, Natalie Ames. His soulful solos on the trumpet and the heartfelt song he sang must have been a memorable moment for all the residents. Music has the incredible power to bring people together, uplift spirits, and create cherished memories.
It’s evident that the residents had a fantastic time, standing up to dance, tapping their feet, clapping their hands, and singing along to familiar hits and many beautiful original songs. Thank you Nick, Kerry and Dave. The Brass Keys had such a positive impact on our residents’ well-being, fostering a sense of community and joy.

Thank you for the heart-warming and generous effort by the HSFA Knitting groups! The act of creating beautiful jerseys, hats, and blankets for premature babies shows not only their knitting skills but also their immense compassion and empathy for those in need. The Little Lambs organisation appreciated the thoughtful gesture, especially during the cold winter months when premature babies need extra warmth and care. #knitting #littlelambs Little Lambs NPO 069-435

The Helderberg Society For the Aged gave a warm welcome to Sunset Bay Spur from Gordon’s Bay at the HSFA’s Silver Oaks Lodge, Assisted Living Unit in Somerset West today.
The elderly residents were brimming with excitement as the Spur team decked the HSFA’s dining room and transformed it into a look-a-like Spur! Sunset Bay Spur generously sponsored their renowned burgers and chips, delighting the happy party. The HSFA’s Assisted Living Unit Manager, Gregory Young, expressed his heartfelt gratitude for the compassionate gesture extended towards the elderly, particularly on this special occasion of Mandela Day.
It was a day filled with delicious Spur food, laughter, and music, and everyone revelled in the festive atmosphere. The support from the Somerset West community holds immense significance for a non-profit organisation like HSFA. Thank you Herman Du Toit – owner of Sunset Bay Spur and his team for assisting the HSFA to achieve HSFA’s vision to care for the older person. Thank you to Gregory and his team and special thanks to Mariska Vlok who made each lamp and wall decoration by hand! Outstanding. Thanks too goes to Theo Rix from
HelderbergFM 93.6 who kindly MC’d and DJ’d!
Auralia Giwu, the Regional Operations Manager Western Cape Spur Steak Ranches, attended the event and said, “When we received the request from the HSFA, requesting bringing Spur to their units with the theme “Taste For Life”, it was an opportunity for us to give back to our community and what a better day to do it on than Mandela Day with the help of Sunset Bay Spur.”

The residents at HSFA’s Swannack Gardens are keeping fit on their NEW outdoor exercise gym. Jackie Nash and Delmence Prevost shown in the photos below worked up a healthy sweat whilst enjoying the beautiful view and getting some Vitamin sunshine D! Thank you for the kind donor (who asked to not be mentioned) who sponsored the fabulous equipment. The HSFA believes in active ageing and this kind action really supports our mission!
