The HSFA Festive Market certainly lived up to it name. It was buzzing with residents, staff and many visitors to the HSFA all enjoying the festivities, gift shopping and enjoying pancakes, boerewors, roosterkork, Samoosas, “bazaarpoeding” , gingerbeer and lemon juice and more!

THE HSFA BUSAMED GOLF DAY 2023 was a fantastic day out at Strand golf course in the sunshine this past Friday, but it was also a successful fundraising day which made a massive difference in the lives of those elderly that are accommodated and cared for by the HSFA. All our Sponsored holes were filled, and 120 golfers enjoyed their games of golf! A big call out of thanks to all the staff of the HSFA who have been involved for months in advance and on the day of the event ensuring the success of this HSFA Fundraiser.

Our Management and Human Resources Department were proud to celebrate the success of our staff who have successfully completed courses provided at the HSFA. The courses include IT training by ISimplifi, Occupational Health and Safety courses including: ‘First Aid’, Safety Rep’ and ‘Fire Fighter & Warden training; as well as several management courses including ‘Employment Equity’, ‘Day to Day Workplace Challenges’ and ‘Conflict Management’. This training has been instrumental in not only elevating skill levels, but also in empowering our staff with a broader knowledge base, fostering professional growth and development within our organisation. We thank all of our staff who participated, as well as all of the staff who were involved with the planning and organising of all of the above training interventions. Thank you to HR team, the OHS team and Rika Rodd, our CEO for arranging these courses for our appreciative staff and in turn creating a safer and improved environment for our residents. #upskilling #stafftraining

Spending quality time with different generations is a win-win! 
Young and old, coming together brings so much happiness. Kids’ energy is contagious and can uplift seniors’ spirits. Studies even prove that bridging generations boosts confidence, communication, and memory! But it’s not a one-way street! Children also gain from these bonds. Some might not have grandparents, and connecting with elders in the community has tons of perks. Seniors share wisdom and enhance academic skills. Plus, their patience and listening skills are top-notch. They truly give kids their undivided attention, something parents and teachers know is priceless! The HSFA held it’s Annual General Meeting and had a fabulous turn out of HSFA members and supporters. On behalf of our Board members, management and staff we thank you all for attending. The HSFA “Caring for Sharing” award was awarded to Circle pharmacy Somerset West for their dedication to our residents health. Thank you to Lynnette Walsh and Huber Reeding for your personal caring touch. The GERATEC team produced a fabulous spread for our attendees. Special thanks to Rika Rodd our CEO who guides the ship with grace, care and professionalism and Michelle Reddy our very organised Executive Secretary who always makes everything go to plan.
