HSFA’s Swannack Gardens gets an outdoor gym

HSFA’s Swannack Gardens gets an outdoor gym

The residents at HSFA’s Swannack Gardens are keeping fit on their NEW outdoor exercise gym. Jackie Nash and Delmence Prevost shown in the photos below worked up a healthy sweat whilst enjoying the beautiful view and getting some Vitamin sunshine D! Thank you for the kind donor (who asked to not be mentioned) who sponsored the fabulous equipment. The HSFA believes in active ageing and this kind action really supports our mission! #activeageing #elderlyfitness #HSFA #helderberg #somersetwest

Valentine’s Day at the HSFA 2023

Valentine’s Day at the HSFA 2023

Ah Valentine’s Day! That time of year when we celebrate love and our beloved! Our residents from Independent Living, Assisted Living and Frailcare, dressed up in red or pink for the day. They enjoyed heart shaped watermelon starters, melt in your mouth chicken steaklets and sweet and saucy desserts from GERATEC. Thank you to the caring staff who decorated the halls to create the Valentine’s theme and make the lunch a memorable moment.

And the Oscar goes to…

And the Oscar goes to…

AND THE OSCAR GOES TO………. It was Oscars night at the HSFA for Mountview Frailcare residents  and WHAT a glamorous affair it was! The ladies and gents turned up in their finery in style, and after receiving their much deserved Oscar’s, were cheered on by their fans, families and the Paparazzi down the VIP red carpet, and whisked into a sparkling room of movie glitz and fame! The movie stars enjoyed a photo session, gourmet servings of food and delicious wine. Thanks goes to the delightful hosts of the day Actress Louisa and Actor Vuyani as well as fabulous Nabilah Ebrahim. Note faces are blurred out due to the POPI Act. All residents will receive their photos.

The HSFA turns Pink for Breast Cancer Awareness Day

The HSFA turns Pink for Breast Cancer Awareness Day

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and several HSFA units took this opportunity to build awareness amongst the residents and staff. Each received a pink ribbon and an info card on how to self check for breast cancer. All the Support Centre residents enjoyed tea and cake in the front gardens morning, whilst listening to music and chatting under the umbrellas. Mountview had a party in their sunny courtyard, had a quiz on breast cancer and also enjoyed tea, cake and pink marshmellows!
The Assisted Living Units (Silver Oaks and Robari Lodge) as well as Vonke and Swannack, went PINK for a day and enjoyed a party lunch! Everybody enjoyed it very much ! Thank you to the Unit Managers and staff teams who make such an effort to make these events a success! #breastcancerawarenessmonth2022

Drama Workshops for HSFA

Drama Workshops for HSFA

March and April were months full of drama at the HSFA! So when our residents were saying “Break a Leg” this did not mean that next step meant a hip or knee replacement, but rather a moment of glory on stage!!
All units (Independent Living, Assisted Living and Frailcare) were invited to join drama workshops as presented by two lovely ladies, Coleen van Staden and Celia Musikanth from Circle Productions Cape Town . Howls of laughter and impassioned shouting was heard in the halls of the units with our residents acting out Shakespeare’s most rude lines (sometimes translated into Afrikaans!) Movement and mime were practiced, and character sketches as well as poems were rolled out. Thank you to the lovely drama teachers who showed us how many theatrical players, tuneful singers, and drama queens we actually have at the HSFA! Watch this space – HSFA HAS TALENT will be back with a vengeance!
